Sooner or later your supercharger belt will break. When it happens, there's a good chance it will take out the plastic thermostat housing. Our thermostat housing guard helps to avoid potential damage and may save you from getting stranded or having to pack up early from a track weekend.

Our guard is designed to fit over the OEM studs used on the Gen V LT4 and LT5 thermostat housing/water outlet. If your housing has bolts, you'll need to swap the bolts for studs (GM Part #11547383) before installing our guard. If you'd like to source the studs from us, we have them in stock here.

Orient the hose clamps to avoid contact with the guard. If your thermostat housing has bolts, replace each bolt one at a time with the stud (GM Part #11547383). Torque each stud as you go to 89 in-lbs. Slide the guard over the studs. Install the 3 nuts (included) and torque to 89 in-lbs.

Simple protection against potential problem

The guard was super simple to install and is a well designed product to protect against potential damage. Ordered and received two days later. Highly recommended.

The guard is great, studs should be included

I think the guard is well made and should do the job nicely. It should come with the studs though, I have'nt seen a ZL1 Camaro yet that has studs and they are all Gen V LT4s. The guard description implies that ALL Gen V LT4s and LT5s have studs.

I own two 6th Gen Camaros that came with studs in the thermostat housing from the factory. I'm not sure why, but many of the 6th Gen Camaros and C7 Corvettes come with studs instead of bolts. OEM Studs are relatively expensive. A billet piece like this is already very expensive to make. We're just doing what we can to keep the cost from being even higher. It also gives the option for customers to source their own less expensive studs from a hadware store.
